The Raleigh-Cary Rail Crossing Study has been completed. The final report is on the Study Info page.
This study began in Summer 2014 and concluded in April 2016. This project studied the at-grade road/rail crossings, and considered how the addition of potential future transit stations and changes in the roadway network may affect properties and land uses. The first step in the process was to identify which streets and intersections are working well, and which may need improvement. In addition to research and field investigation by the project team, public meetings were held in November 2014 to collect information from the public. Based on input received at the first round of public meetings, a range of alternatives were developed to address the identified needs and were presented to the public in March 2015. The end result of this study is to identify the most feasible alternative at each existing and proposed railroad crossing, and the associated impacts of each.
